CONTACT THEATRE is a dynamic new theatre company that takes a modern approach to Broadway’s most risqué musicals. Our mission is to produce shows that grapple with heavy moral issues and question the status quo. Our stage is designed to showcase diverse voices and talent from the community.
Contact Theatre was founded in 2019 by Ally Brumer and Debora Friedmann, two young artists with a unique vision. The pair met in 2015 during a university production of RENT at McGill, inspiring the company’s title. Brumer's keen eye for theatrical detail and Friedmann 's innovative artistic vision brought the duo back together to realize new projects that push creative boundaries and challenge typical theatrical norms. Following a hugely successful partnership working on The Addams Family Musical with WISTA in 2018, which was recently nominated for a Montreal English Theatre Award, the two couldn't wait to take the Montreal musical theatre scene by storm.
Contact's debut production, Bonnie & Clyde the musical, saw huge success at the MainLine theatre in April 2019. The production played for five sold out runs and received rave reviews from critics and audience members alike. Due to the overwhelming success, the production was remounted in Fall 2019 and played for an additional give runs. The show when on to win 10 regional BroadwayWorld Awards, including Best Musical by an Independent Theatre Company. Contact also picked up the award for best independent Theatre company in Montreal.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Contact was forced to cancel their production of Chicago, just one month before opening night. While disappointing, Contact is eager to get back to producing musical works of art for the Montreal community.
Contact Theatre aims to produce shows that are accessible to everyone and attractive to new audiences. For more information please reach out at firstname.lastname@example.org.
